On this World Down Syndrome Day, March 21, 2024, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of Carleton Place, urge all residents to join in recognizing the valuable contributions of individuals with Down syndrome to our community. This day, observed globally since 2012, serves to promote the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome, and to raise awareness about their abilities and accomplishments. Let us come together to celebrate diversity, foster acceptance, and advocate for the full participation of individuals with Down syndrome in all aspects of life. Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable society for everyone.
