The Corporation of the Town of Carleton Place hosted local MPP John Jordan today as we celebrated the Official Grand Re-Opening of the revitalized gymnasium at Carambeck Community Centre with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony followed by cake and mingling. This revitalization project was made possible due to a $76,900 Capital grant from the Ontario Government through the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
“The news of this successful OTF grant really drives home the impact that government funding can have on a local and regional level,” said John Jordan, MPP for Lanark—Frontenac—Kingston. “When projects like a new gym floor get the green light, it means kids can play safely, teams can stay in the game, and the opportunities are wide open for anyone in the community who wants to get out and get involved in some level of recreation. Thumbs up to the people who did the work on this one – your efforts to revive the Carambeck Community Centre have paid off to the tune of $76,900 – and that’s a win for this Town, and for this government – because healthy, active communities keep us all moving forward to a better, stronger future!”
The Carambeck gymnasium is used by residents of all ages and abilities and provides a venue for an assortment of social and physical activities including baby play groups, youth gym sessions, children's classes, and adult/senior sports. The previous tile flooring has been replaced with high-performance sport flooring which will enable more organizations to access recreation programs and create additional opportunities for safe play.
“This funding is a game changer for a highly used facility that was starting to show its age,” says Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place. “The vision for Carambeck was always to create a place where residents could gather and come together as a community, and I am looking forward to seeing the Centre utilized to its full potential as a result of the revitalization of this space.”

Our government wants to ensure that these programs and spaces remain the heart of communities across our province.”
