Construction Update – March 9th, 2023

The Public Works Department would like to remind residents that weather, staffing, and supply of materials can impact the construction schedule. Activities anticipated for the upcoming week include the following:

Gillies/Mill St Bridge Revert Back to Two-Way Traffic

Now that the Central Bridge is in the final stages of completion and some outstanding tasks have been completed on the Gillies Bridge, the Town will begin removing all one-way signage on MONDAY, MARCH 13TH, 2023, in order to re-open the bridges on the corridor leading from Princess Street to Rosamond Street to two-way traffic.

Louis Bray will have a few outstanding items to complete on the Gillies Bridge in the spring when weather conditions permit that may require a short-term closure (one day). The Public Works Department will provide notification in advance of this work proceeding. Residents are encouraged to watch for announcements through our Town e-newsletter CP Scoop.

The Public Works Department is reminding motorists that these bridges are single lane bridges and motorists are to yield to oncoming traffic and proceed with caution.

Also, the Mill Street underpass will reopen to traffic as it was prior to commencing the Central Bridge Project. Again, motorists are reminded that this structure can only accommodate one vehicle at a time and motorists are asked to exercise caution while traveling through this corridor.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding any of our projects, please call (613) 257-2253.
