Covid-19 - Update #53


Last night there was a Special Meeting of Council to discuss the Recyclable Material Collection and Processing tender. Council had some good questions about the new dual-stream program and our Director of Public Works had some informative answers. The meeting is now available for viewing on the Town’s Facebook page.



Prime Minister Trudeau announced important measures within agriculture programs and an investment of more than $252 million to support farmers, food businesses, and food processors who provide essential services to Canadians every day by ensuring a safe and reliable food supply.



The Ontario government is extending emergency electricity rate relief to families, farms and small businesses until May 31, 2020 during the COVID-19 outbreak. Customers who pay time-of-use electricity rates will continue to be billed at the lowest price, known as the off-peak price, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Emergency Order closing licensed childcare centres and all facilities providing indoor recreational programs, including EarlyON Child and Family Centres, has been extended until May 19, 2020.

The Emergency Order to immediately prohibit organized public events and social gatherings of more than five people has also been extended to May 19, 2020.

The Ontario government is allowing all retail stores with a street entrance to provide curbside pickup and delivery, as well as in-store payment and purchases at garden centres, nurseries, hardware stores and safety supply stores.
