Background

Jeff was first elected to Council in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. He lives in the heart of Carleton Place, in the historic Boulton Brown Mill with is bulldog, Mable.

Like more and more of the people living in Carleton Place, Jeff wasn’t born and raised here. He chose to make Carleton Place his home. After years of living and working in Ottawa, he wanted to return to a community like the one where he grew up, in rural, small-town Ontario. What he found when he came to Carleton Place in 2016 was a beautiful town, with a strong sense of community, a love of history, and a passion to hold onto its small-town charm in the face of rapid growth and looming new development.

Jeff firmly believes that we can have it both ways here in Carleton Place. We can grow without losing the small-town charm and community spirit that has made CP such an attractive place to live for so many people. And we can ensure that growth doesn’t overwhelm our town’s ability to provide the things we need to guarantee the same quality of life into the future.

Jeff works full-time at the Canadian Labour Congress (since 2001). He has also worked for the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and as legislative assistant to a Member of Parliament. A graduate of Carleton University (1993) and Algonquin College (1997), Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a certificate in Public Relations.
