A public boat launch is available at the West end of Lake Avenue.

Purchase & Payment Options:

  1. In person at the Carleton Place Arena (75 Neelin St). Monday to Friday between 8:30-4:30pm with the required fee.
  2. Fill out this application. It will be emailed to jfluhrer@carletonplace.ca. Upon receipt of your application, you will be contacted for payment and pick up arrangements.

Payment can be made with cash, cheque – made payable to The Town of Carleton Place, and Visa or Mastercard (please note an additional 3% will be added to credit card payments as per the Municipal Fees & Services bylaw).

Single day passes can be purchased at the boat launch.

Public Dock

The Town has docking at Riverside Park, near the Lake Avenue West boat launch.
There are two municipal docks located off the public parking area across from the
Town Hall on Bridge Street. There is also small docks at Centennial Park, and at the
end of Water Street for recreational canoe/kayak usage.

The newest addition to Carleton Place’s recreation and culture facilities, the sports pad can be booked for various activities and events all year round. Rental times are limited as the purpose of this space it to ensure that it is open and accessible to the entire community as much as possible.

Carleton Place has two outdoor rink locations, which are maintained by community volunteers. They are located in Carleton Junction (42 Moore St.), and at the Carambeck Community Centre (351 Bridge St). Without the support of volunteers; the residents of Carleton Place would not have the opportunity to participate in this great outdoor activity. Find history and views of the river on the many trails in and around the town. Most trails are typically less than three km. Their short and low impact flow require limited skill and are suitable for everyone. Check out the Walking Trails Map.

Self-Guided Walking Tours

Grab a copy of the Self Guided Walking Tours and enjoy a day taking in the sights and
sounds of Carleton Place! Enjoy a historic nature walking tour and/or historic heritage
building walking tour down Bridge Street. Copies are available at the Carleton Place Arena or Carleton Place Visitor’s Centre.

Mississippi RiverWalk

This nature trail runs from Princess Street to Anthony Curro Park. This is Nature Trail 1 on the self guided Walking Tour. This trail is perfect for the history buff, or anyone wanting to learn a bit more about our town’s unique location. Enjoy the smells, sights
and sounds of the Mississippi River.

O-Kee-Lee Nature Trail

A spacious nature trail, perfect for dog-walking or jogging. Enter the O-Kee-Lee Trail
via Centennial Park and enjoy a riverview seat on the benches along the trail.

OVRT Trail

Formerly the Canadian Pacific Railway track, the OVRT Trail runs from Smith’s Falls to
Mattawa. This multiuse trail welcomes patrons on foot, wheels, skis and hooves alike.
With several beautiful look outs and several access points throughout the Carleton
Place stretch, this is the perfect trail for an outdoor adventure.

Riverside Trail

Discover the historic Carleton Place Canoe Club, learn about the downtown core, and
finish up at the scenic town boat launch.

Rotary Centennial Trail

Enjoy a 7 km stroll along the Mississippi, connecting the village of Appleton to
Carleton Place. This trail runs just below the McNeely Avenue Bridge at Highway 29 to
the junction of Hillcrest Drive and River Road in Appleton.

Roy Brown Park Trail

This trail has various loop combinations that range in 1.5km loops to 3.0km and up. You’re invited to come for a walk or run in our newest park and take in the tranquil beauty.

Sonnenburg Woods

Located at 15 Bates Drive, this is a natural, non-maintained trail. Whether you’re
walking or bird watching; this is the perfect trail to enjoy nature’s beauty.

Trans-Canada Trail

The Trans Canada Trail is a 18,078 km recreational corridor winding its way through
every province and territory, linking 800 communities on route. The local section
of this trail starts at the intersection of McNeely Avenue at Cavanagh Road. Parking
available.

Public Park Rentals
Did you know that the Town of Carleton Place has 29 public parks? Each park has its own unique features that make them great gathering spots for birthdays, family reunions, weddings, and special community events. Permits are required to hold an event, a special event or a regular planned activity at any of our municipal parks.

Located in the heart of Carleton Junction, the Carleton Place Pump Track & Skate Park is a highlight for residents and visitors alike.

The Pump Track loops around the outside of the Skate Park on a paved pathway and has two different tracks to allow for users of all ages to participate.

A pump track is similar to a BMX track but enables riders to pump through a series of features in a continuous loop. Using a pumping action- the rider pushes down with their arms and legs in harmony with the track features to maintain momentum without pedalling.

The Skate Park sits on a concrete slab and features: bank ramp, grind rail (round), grind rail(kinked), grind box, grind ledge, stairs, and quarter pipe. This park is very user-friendly for all comfort-levels.

Carleton Place Recreation & Culture Department manages and maintains three Public Splash Pads that are open from June to October of each year (weather permitting.)

All Splash Pads are open 7 days a week for public use and are set on a timer and can be turned on as early as 8:00 a.m. and will automatically shut off at 8:30 p.m. every night.

Locations:

The Riverside Park Splash Pad is located at 175 John Street.

The Carambeck Community Centre Splash Pad is located at 359 Bridge Street.

The Dunlop Road Splash Pad is located at 31 Dunlop Road in the Carleton Landing Subdivision.

To report any damages or issues with either Splash Pad, please call the Recreation and Culture Department at (613) 257-1690.

Located behind the Carleton Place Arena at 75 Neelin Street; the Carleton Place Tennis and Pickleball Courts are open from May to October each year (weather permitting).

Single, Family, and Senior Memberships are available for purchase in the Spring of each calendar year.

The Carleton Place Curling Club has over 380 members from age 7 to over 80. They offer a complete range of curling activities, Learn to Curl, fixed and open daytime
curling, men’s , women’s and mixed leagues, competitive and recreational. The Curling Club also host bonspiels and have rental facilities for parties and other events.
