Downtown Facade Improvement Program

Downtown Carleton Place Granary building facade

The intent of the Storefront Façade Improvement Program is to stimulate private investment and customer patronage in our Downtown core by focusing on revitalizing building facades visible to customers, neighbouring merchants, and residents. A property owner or business with approval of the property owner, may apply for a rebate grant for up to 50% of the cost of eligible front façade improvements that satisfy design criteria set out by the Town, to a maximum of $15,000 in costs, for a maximum of $7,500 in rebate grant funding.

An additional $2,500 rebate grant may be given to applications that implement a design that restores heritage features using materials and designs that have been approved by a qualified heritage professional (e.g., licensed architect, Professional Membership status in the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals).

This program is administered as part of the Community Improvement Plan.
