Swim Lesson Registration/Session Dates

Sunday Afternoons

SPRING – April 13 to June 15 (No lesson April 20 and May 18). This is a 8-class session.

Registration opens April 7 for CP and Beckwith taxpayers; and April 9 for all other Non-Contributing areas.

Tuesday Evenings

SPRING – April 1 to May 27 (9 weeks)

SPRING (2) – April 29 to June 10 (7 weeks)

Registration opens March 26 for CP and Beckwith taxpayers; and March 28 for all other Non-Contributing areas.

NEW:  Adult/Youth DROP IN swim lessons for Beginner and Intermediate swimmers. Class runs from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Pre-registration is not required.  We have limited spaces which will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

$14.50 per class for taxpayers to Carleton Place / Beckwith; 

$22.50 per class for taxpayers to all other areas.

Thursday Evenings

National Lifeguard – POOL RECERT

Course Fees: Residents $101.00; Non-Contributing $156.00
Course Date: Sunday, November 24, 2024 – 1:00 to 6:30 pm
100% attendance and participation are required!
Bring proof of certification or your Lifesaving ID.

National Lifeguard Recertification: To remain “current”, National Lifeguards must successfully complete a National Lifeguard recertification exam. The only items evaluated on a National Lifeguard recertification examination are marked with a (†) symbol in the At-a-glance list of test items, on the test sheets and in the National Lifeguard Award Guide.


Upcoming Dates for National Lifeguard Recertification: June 8th, 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The National Lifeguard recertification exam is your opportunity to demonstrate your skills and recertify your award. You are responsible for reviewing the required content and skills and preparing yourself for the exam. Your exam is based on the National Lifeguard Award curriculum. The required content for this curriculum can be found in your Alert text and the Canadian Lifesaving Manual. Candidates should bring a whistle, barrier devices (gloves and pocket mask) and proof of prerequisite (previous National Lifeguard certification).

Lifesaving Society Swim/Lifesaving Instructor Combined

The Swim Instructor course prepares the instructor to teach and evaluate the swimming strokes and related skills found in the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program. The Lifesaving Instructor course prepares instructors to teach the Lifesaving Society’s Canadian Swim Patrol Program

All Private lesson requests will be taken starting on one given registration day for all possible private lesson day options.  All requests are done via email to cppool@carletonplace.ca. We will have limited openings on Tuesday and Thursday evening as well as daytime mornings on selected days.  We will start taking Summer 2025 private lesson requests on May 28th at 9am.

Pool Admission / Supervision Policy

  • Children under the age of 6 must be within arms’ reach of a parent or guardian (max. 2 children per parent or guardian).
  • Children under the age of 10 and are NON/WEAK swimmers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at least 14 years of age and who are responsible for their direct supervision (max 4 per parent / guardian)
  • Children under the age of 10 years who are swimmers must be able to swim a minimum of 25 meters and the parent / guardian must remain in the facility. A swim test is required.
  • Children 6 years of age and older must use appropriate gender change rooms.

Centennial, Riverside Beach, and Splash Pad

Beaches will be open for the 2025 season on June 16th, 2025. Lifeguards will be on duty from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.

Washrooms are open at Riverside Park Beach daily from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm until September 30th.  A portable toilet is available at Centennial Park.  Washrooms at both locations will not be available after September 30th

Water quality is tested by the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit

River current could be stronger than expected.  DO NOT swim across the river.

Parents/Caregivers—Keep non-swimmers within arms reach at all times.  

The Splash Pad at Riverside Park is available 7 days a week for public use and is set on a timer that can be turned on as early as 8:00 a.m. and will automatically shut off at 8:30 p.m. every night.
