Carleton Place Overview

Carleton Place is a town in Eastern Ontario, Canada in Lanark County, approximately a 45-minute drive to Downtown Ottawa and 4.5 hours to Toronto. Carleton Place is located directly on Highway 7 on the Trans-Canada Highway.

With an embedded paddling culture, the town is home to the oldest continuously operating Canoe Club in Canada. You can enjoy the natural beauty of the town by launching your paddleboard or canoe down the river or strolling along the Riverwalk, a perfect place for a bike ride or a walk with your dog.

Carleton Place is home to a wide variety of unique businesses and services. The foodie scene is alive and thrives in the downtown corridor, with tree-lined streets where you can enjoy a meal and a local craft beer on one of the many outdoor patios. Many restaurants and cafes also offer dishes infused with Lanark County maple syrup.

Carleton Place also offers four serviced business parks, with a diverse offering ideal for industrial uses, small business, or office space. Our thriving downtown business area is perfect for retail and restaurants. Within a few blocks, you’ll find an incredible range of goods and services catering to every taste and price range, including beautiful boutique shops, gifts, high-end ladies’ wear, florists, gourmet foods and natural pet foods – to name just a few! The municipality maintains a number of parking lots in the downtown, with free parking available to all customers. The Carleton Place Farmers Market is located on Beckwith Street, just steps from the downtown.
