The Corporation of the Town of Carleton Place is honoured to have been selected as a host community for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Juniors Championship Tournament. Carleton Place will be the proud host of the Kazakhstan Junior Hockey Team.
The Carleton Place Arena will be the hub for this team, during their Pre-Competition Camp of December 16th to 23rd, 2024. The Team will eat, train, and stay in Carleton Place, and will have an opportunity to explore the Town and the people that make it great.
“Hockey has always been a deeply rooted part of the community culture here in Carleton Place,” says Toby Randell, Mayor of Carleton Place. “This is an exciting opportunity for the community, and I hope you will join me in cheering on Team Kazakhstan and doing what we can to make our town their home away from home during the tournament.”
Carleton Place will be one of the seven (7) hosting communities that will support a Junior Hockey team during their Pre-Competition Camp period. These communities will support the hockey team through planning meal options, ensuring ice time is secure, assisting with any hospitality needs, and showcasing the community’s hockey culture. The Town of Carleton Place continues to work with Hockey Canada to discuss opportunities for residents to meet and cheer on Kazakhstan during their time in Carleton Place. Residents are encouraged to continue to monitor the Town’s social media pages, as well as refer to CP Scoop for updates.
