The Carleton Place Public Works Department would like to advise our residents that reconstruction activities on two (2) downtown public parking lots are set to begin the first week of September.
The timing of the planned reconstruction was to ensure that businesses in the downtown had adequate parking to accommodate the high tourism season, and to avoid impacting some of the larger-scale community events planned during the summer months.
Library Parking Lot – 101 Beckwith Street
Cavanagh Construction will begin reconstruction activities starting Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. We anticipate the parking lot will be closed for several weeks.
Library Hours and Services
The library will remain open with regular hours of operation during this time. There will be no changes to room rentals or library programs.
Accessibility
To mitigate the impact on visitors, two (2) accessible parking spaces have been added on Beckwith Street immediately adjacent to the building during construction. Additionally, a third space has been designated on Beckwith Street specifically for curbside pickup of library holds. To use this service, call or text 613-451-2554 with your name, and library staff will bring your holds to you.
Where to Park
On-street parking is available on the streets surrounding the library. Additional parking can be found at Market Square, located at the corner of Lake Avenue and Beckwith Street.

Curbside Pickup: The library will have one (1) dedicated parking spot on Beckwith Street adjacent to the building for curbside pickup while the parking lot is under construction. Place your holds online at www.carletonplacelibrary.ca and wait for an email indicating your holds are ready for pickup. When you arrive at the library, call or text 613-451-2554 with your name, and library staff will bring your materials out to you. This service is available during the library’s open hours.

Moore House Parking Lot – 170 Bridge Street
Reconstruction of this parking lot is anticipated to begin on Thursday, September 5th and the parking lot will remain closed while crews reconstruct the parking lot.
Residents are encouraged to utilize other municipal parking lots within the downtown core at Market Square (7 Beckwith Street) and 92 Bridge Street, and on-street parking spaces on Bridge Street and adjacent side streets.
