Town Hall Closed
Due to the impending storm, Town Hall will be closed to the public tomorrow, Thursday, February 13th, 2025. Staff will be available through phone or email. Please see the Contact Us page on the Town’s website for a list of staff contact information.
Carleton Place Childcare Centres Will Be Closed
Both the Francis Street and Carambeck Childcare Centres will be closed tomorrow and not offering care due to predicted weather conditions. Safety for staff, parents, and children is the main concern in the decision to close for the day.
Recreation
The Arena and the Pool will be closed until 4:00 p.m. tomorrow and then open for evening rentals. Carambeck Community Centre will be closed until 6:00 p.m. and then open for evening rentals. The Active Living Centre will be closed all day.
Thursday Waste Collection
Waste collection for the Thursday route is being rescheduled to Saturday, February 15th due to Environment Canada’s Winter Storm Warning. However, Emterra is going to attempt to collect recycling tomorrow. Residents are being asked to not place their recycling curbside until 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and place bins just back far enough so that recycling bins will not interfere with plowing operations. Should Emterra cancel collection, residents will be advised through our waste app and through our Facebook page.
Library Closure
Due to the significant weather event, the Library will be closed on Thursday, February 13th. Any materials due that day have been extended to Friday, February 14th, so there’s no need to worry about returning your books during the storm. While our building may be closed, your digital library is always open! Use your library card and PIN to access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and music anytime through Libby or Hoopla. With so many great options, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained during the snow day!
Hydrant Clearing
With over 500 fire hydrants in Carleton Place, we are asking residents to assist the Carleton Place Fire Department and Public Works Department by clearing snow away from any hydrants near their residence so that it is easier for firefighters to access. Every second can help save lives in an emergency.
Reminder – Road Conditions – Public Works
Visibility and driving conditions are expected to be poor. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads during the winter storm. Public Works would like to remind residents that on-street parking is prohibited overnight and would ask that residents refrain from parking on the roadways on Thursday until the clean-up from the winter storm is completed on your street. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated while Town staff diligently undertakes snow plowing operations throughout the Town.
