The Town of Carleton Place is asking residents to be very cognizant of the need to limit water until weather conditions improve in order to ensure there are enough reserves in the water distribution system to accommodate emergency services. The Town has implemented a colour-coded Water Demand Status system to help residents make informed decisions about their water usage.
The need to limit outdoor water consumption is directly associated with the increase of lawn watering and garden watering due to the recent hot/dry weather. As the heat increases and more residents engage in outdoor watering, the demand on the water system increases proportionately.
By implementing this colour-coded notification system, we can give residents the opportunity to be mindful of the stress on our water treatment plant and modify their outdoor watering habits accordingly so that a complete lawn watering ban can be avoided.
The water demand status will be updated on the Town’s website, social media and through CP Scoop as it changes.
