Carleton Place & District Chamber of Commerce
The Carleton Place & District Chamber of Commerce strives to create an atmosphere that is conducive to strong and prosperous businesses. The Chamber of Commerce supports local business through:
- Developing programs and services for members, including workshops and seminars
- Delivering tourism products and services on behalf of the Town of Carleton Place
- Managing the Carleton Place Information Center and Gift Shop.

The Carleton Place Business Improvement Area (BIA)
The Downtown Carleton Place BIA has several important mandates – the beautification and promotion of the downtown corridor, and the social development of the downtown of Carleton Place as a vibrant hub of the community.
Downtown Carleton Place organizes some of the biggest events in Carleton Place.

Valley Heartland Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC)
The CFDC is a community based organization providing services to businesses and communities in Lanark County and North Leeds. The goal is to assist rural communities like Carleton Place by strengthening and diversifying their economies.
Valley Heartland’s programs include:
- Supporting local businesses and communities
- Building innovation
- Developing skills
- Loans and other funding.

Small Business Advisory Centre
The Small Business Advisory Centre – Smiths Falls/Lanark County is located within the Town of Smiths Falls Municipal Office (enter through the Welcome Centre).
The Centre is an initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, delivered in partnership with the Town of Smiths Falls and supported through funding from the County of Lanark. The SBAC serves entrepreneurs/small business owners throughout Lanark County and Smiths Falls.
Whether you are considering starting a business, purchasing an existing business, expanding your operations, or looking for ways to improve your business, the Business Advisor is available by appointment to meet with you in person, virtually, or by telephone.
We provide confidential, one-on-one business advisory services to help entrepreneurs navigate the many stages of business ownership. Our goal is to provide practical information, guidance, and resources that help businesses start strong, grow successfully, and remain sustainable over the long term.
If there are questions outside our area of expertise, we can connect you with trusted professionals and organizations that provide specialized support and services.
In addition to advisory services, the Centre offers educational webinars/workshops, and access to provincial entrepreneurship programs, including:
Summer Company – A program that provides students aged 15 to 29 with training, mentoring, and funding to start and operate a summer business.
Starter Company Plus – A program that helps entrepreneurs start, grow, or purchase a business through training, mentorship, and the opportunity to apply for a grant.
Foodpreneur Advantage – A specialized training program designed to support food and beverage entrepreneurs as they launch and scale their businesses.
The Small Business Advisory Centre is committed to supporting local entrepreneurship, fostering economic development, and helping businesses succeed throughout Smiths Falls and Lanark County.
