Prostate Cancer Awareness Month – October 2025
WHEREAS, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, with 1 in 9 expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime, highlighting the need for increased awareness and support; and
WHEREAS, Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa (PCSO) is a volunteer-led organization that helps men in Carleton Place diagnosed with prostate cancer and supports men and families living with the disease while promoting public awareness; and
WHEREAS, throughout the month, PCSO will assist men get tested, conduct presentations and advertising campaigns, participate in awareness events and conduct virtual support group meetings;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place, do hereby proclaim September as Prostate Cancer Month in Carleton Place.
I encourage all residents to recognize and celebrate the lives of prostate cancer survivors and to ensure that all men over 50 have a discussion about prostate cancer testing with their medical practitioner.
