WHEREAS, research consistently shows that high-quality early learning and child care supports the intellectual, emotional, social and physical development of young children and lays the foundation for lifelong learning and well-being; and
WHEREAS, accessible, high-quality child care strengthens families and our broader community by enabling parents and caregivers to work, study and participate fully in the economic and social life of Carleton Place; and
WHEREAS, Registered Early Childhood Educators and child care workers bring training, skill and compassion to their work in licensed child care, EarlyON Child and Family Centres, before- and after-school programs, and full-day kindergarten classrooms; and
WHEREAS, Registered Early Childhood Educators and child care workers are essential to the success of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care system; and
WHEREAS, October 21, 2026, marks the 26th annual Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day, recognized each year by the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care, along with municipalities, school boards, child care centres and partners across Ontario;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place, do hereby proclaim October 21, 2026, as Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day in the Town of Carleton Place.
I encourage all residents to join me in thanking the child care workers and early childhood educators in our community for their education, dedication and commitment to our children, their families and the quality of life we all share.
