Heat Protection

Environment and Natural Resources Canada is predicting a one (1) day heat event starting Wednesday afternoon and ending Thursday.

High temperatures on Wednesday will reach 31 to 32 degrees Celsius and overnight lows will reach near 20 degrees Celsius early Thursday morning. These conditions pose a health risk when you are not used to the heat. Everyone is at risk from heat, especially older adults; infants and young children; and people with chronic illnesses.

Drink plenty of cool liquids before feeling thirsty and keep cool by dressing for the weather and spending more time in a cool place.

The Carleton Place Public Library (101 Beckwith Street) is air-conditioned and will be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Arena lobby (75 Neelin Street) will also be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

You can also cool off at the three (3) splash pads:

  • The Riverside Park Splash Pad is located at 175 John Street.
  • The Carambeck Community Centre Splash Pad is located at 359 Bridge Street.
  • The Dunlop Road Park Splash Pad is located at 31 Dunlop Road.
