The Town of Carleton Place is transitioning to a new service provider for our waste app. Starting Wednesday, August 13th, residents of Carleton Place can begin accessing Recycle Coach from their desktop computers or mobile devices. Recycle Coach allows residents to get waste disposal information when they need it, and it is absolutely free.
If you are not familiar with our waste app, residents can:
- Stay organized with curbside collection calendars. Never miss a pick-up day again!
- Receive collection reminders and real-time updates on service disruptions
- Become waste disposal experts with a comprehensive “What Goes Where?” search tool, including local disposal information and collection requirements for common and uncommon items
- Take the “We Wanted to Know” weekly quizzes for useful tips and tricks
- Use the problem-reporting tool, equipped with geolocation, to notify Town staff about issues like missed collections or submit a question to staff.
Why change the app?
The Town is making this change ahead of the Provincial transition to Extended Producer Responsibility, which will take full effect on January 1st, 2026. Beginning January 1st, the entire Province’s recycling program will be operated and managed by one (1) organization called Circular Materials Ontario (CMO). For residents, this means no matter where you go in the Province of Ontario, recycling will be the same. By switching to Recycle Coach, we will be able to integrate our app with CMO’s upcoming app.
Additionally, the new app is more cost-effective than our previous app and is Canadian-owned with the company headquarters located in Toronto. This provides us with easy access to support and the ability to pay our invoices in Canadian dollars.
What will happen to the Carleton Place Waste Solutions App?
The Carleton Place Waste Solutions app will no longer be supported or updated beyond December 1st, 2025.
What if I cannot find my address in the waste app?
Residents can contact the Public Works office for assistance with addressing issues.
