National Forest Week:
Each year, National Forest Week is celebrated across Canada by many individual governments, companies and organizations for the importance forests have played in the development of Canada and still do across the country.
Again in 2025, we are witnessing a year of Wildfires from coast to coast to coast. For us in Carleton Place, we are witnessing an extremely dry summer and hot weather.
This year’s theme is ” Roots of Resilience from Seed to Canopy.” From time immemorial, Canada’s forests have anchored the economic, cultural, and environmental sustainability of communities. Science and innovation underpin healthy forests from inception to maturity.
National Tree Day
This takes place on the Wednesday of National Forest Week. National Tree Day serves as a recognition for all Canadians to appreciate the great benefits trees provide us: clean air, reduction in energy demand, health benefits, stormwater management, wildlife habitat, and the connection with nature. It is especially important the recognition for us in Carleton Place to reap the benefits of our Urban Forest
On Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, the Committee invites Council, Staff, other Committees and the general public to help celebrate National Tree Day by gathering to plant a ceremonial tree at Ball Diamond on Princess Street
