The Town of Carleton Place would like to remind residents that weather, staffing, and supply of materials can impact the construction schedule. Activities anticipated for the upcoming week include the following:
Captain A Roy Brown Extension and McEachen Drive Construction
Cavanagh Construction will continue to relocate topsoil and overburden material from the blasting operations. Sewer and water crews are scheduled to begin installation of the stormwater infrastructure and watermain works on McEachen Drive.
Charles Street
Crews will be grading granular materials in preparation for base course asphalt.
St. Paul Street
Crews will be grinding the existing asphalt and will be grading the granular materials.
Findlay Pump Station
Crews will be constructing the new buoyancy ring and will be preparing the footings and foundation for the new building.
Princess Street Pumping Station
Renovations to the building are continuing. Crews will also be constructing the new buoyancy ring on site.
Industrial Avenue Pumping Station
The final connection to the sanitary sewer is scheduled to begin on September 22nd, 2025. Industrial Avenue (at Townline Road East) will be closed for several days to facilitate this work. Signage for the detours will be in place at key intersections to direct motorists accordingly. Businesses within the Industrial Park are still open but accessible from Ramsay Concession 8.
Water Treatment Plant Expansion & Wastewater Treatment Plant
Crews will continue with drilling and blasting operations at both sites for rock removal. In an effort to remain on schedule for the construction of the new MBR building (located on the site of our former Compost Yard), crews will be working throughout the day on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. We acknowledge this may not be ideal for residents nearby; however, it is necessary to keep the project on schedule while we have favourable weather conditions.
For everyone’s safety, the Town of Carleton Place and its contractors would like to request that residents find alternative routes to avoid these active construction zones. If you are unable to find alternative routes around the construction, please reduce your speed and follow the directions provided by flag crews and/or any posted signage. Our goal is to ensure everyone is able to go home safely at the end of each day. Should you have any questions about any of our projects, please reach out to the Public Works Office at (613) 257-2253.
