WHEREAS Earth Day, observed annually on April 22, is a global event to promote environmental awareness and inspire actions to protect our planet for future generations; and
WHEREAS the Town of Carleton Place is committed to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and fostering a healthy and resilient community; and
WHEREAS the global theme for Earth Day 2025 is “Our Power, Our Planet” which encourages everyone to embrace renewable energy and strive to triple global clean electricity generation by 2030; and
WHEREAS the Town of Carleton Place’s Conservation Demand Management Energy Plan for 2024-2028 outlines a commitment to promoting and developing renewable energy systems.; and
WHEREAS the Town has planned initiatives, including applying for grant funding for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on the rooftops of municipal facilities and assessing the potential for integrating electric vehicles into the Town’s fleet;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place, do hereby proclaim April 22, 2025, as Earth Day in Carleton Place.
I encourage all residents to participate in activities and initiatives that contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
