Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning – A prolonged period of near heat warning levels begins today until possibly Thursday, with daytime highs of 29 to 32 degrees Celsius and a humidex of 35 to 40. Overnight lows of 19 to 23 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat.

You don’t need a reason to “chill” at your library. If you need to cool off, Carleton Place Public Library invites you to spend your day with them. They have comfortable seating, books and puzzles to keep you busy, places to charge your devices, a laptop bar and public computers if you need to get some work done, and more. Everyone is welcome at the library! The Library (101 Beckwith Street) will be open on Saturday, July 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Regular hours for the library during the week are Monday to Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Carleton Place Town Hall lobby (175 Bridge Street) will be open as a Cooling Centre on Sunday, July 13th from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Riverside Park and Centennial beaches are open. Lifeguards will be on duty from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Water quality is tested by the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit. All patrons must respect closure signage. The river current could be stronger than expected. Parents/Caregivers—Keep non-swimmers within arm’s reach at all times.
