WHEREAS April 9 marks Vimy Ridge Day, a time to honor and remember the bravery and sacrifice of Canadian soldiers who fought during the Battle of Vimy Ridge in 1917; and
WHEREAS the Battle of Vimy Ridge is a defining moment in Canadian history, symbolizing unity, courage, and national pride; and
WHEREAS the Town of Carleton Place joins all Canadians in reflecting on the sacrifices made by those who served and in ensuring their legacy is never forgotten;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place, do hereby proclaim April 9, 2025, as Vimy Ridge Day in Carleton Place.
I encourage all residents to honor the memory of Canada’s fallen heroes and to reflect on the values of peace and freedom for which they fought.
