WHEREAS, small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, driving innovation, fostering community resilience, and creating vital employment opportunities for our citizens; and
WHEREAS, Canadian entrepreneurs demonstrate remarkable adaptability and dedication by embracing new technologies, optimizing productivity, and strengthening our local supply chains; and
WHEREAS, the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) has organized Small Business Week for over four decades to celebrate the outstanding achievements and vital contributions of small and medium-sized enterprises across the nation; and
WHEREAS, the theme of this year’s celebration highlights the power of innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable growth in building a more competitive and prosperous future; and
WHEREAS, our community thrives when we actively support, buy from, and invest in our local small business owners and innovators;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place, do hereby proclaim October 18-24, 2026, as Small Business Week in Carleton Place.
I encourage all residents to support our local small businesses, participate in Small Business Week events, and acknowledge the indispensable role these enterprises play in fostering a vibrant and prosperous community.
