WHEREAS Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations across Canada help children and youth build meaningful, supportive relationships with caring adult mentors; and
WHEREAS mentoring relationships can help young people develop confidence, resilience, social skills and a stronger sense of belonging; and
WHEREAS volunteers, families, staff, donors and community partners contribute to the success of mentoring programs and help create positive opportunities for children and youth; and
WHEREAS Big Brothers Big Sisters Day recognizes the importance of mentorship and celebrates the individuals who make a lasting difference in the lives of young people; and
WHEREAS strong mentoring relationships help build healthier, more connected and more inclusive communities;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place, do hereby proclaim September 18, 2026, as Big Brothers Big Sisters Day in the Town of Carleton Place and encourage residents to recognize the value of mentoring, support local youth-serving organizations, and consider how they can help children and youth reach their full potential.
