Construction Project Update – May 28th, 2025 – Sanitary Sewer Upsizing Project DS2-2025

The Town of Carleton Place Development Services Department would like to inform residents and businesses of a significant infrastructure project scheduled for this summer. Cavanagh Construction has been awarded the contract for the Sanitary Sewer Upsizing Project DS2-2025, which will take place along the Independent Grocer Drive Aisle, crossing McNeely Avenue, and continuing north toward the Walmart parking lot.

This critical infrastructure project is being carried out to accommodate future growth and development along Highway 7 and Franktown Road. The work includes the removal and replacement of the existing sanitary sewer system, followed by full reinstatement of all affected areas to their original condition

To minimize daytime disruptions, a substantial portion of the work will be completed during nighttime hours. Lane reductions will be implemented where necessary, and traffic control personnel will be on site to assist with the safe movement of vehicles through the affected areas.

Please be advised that the schedule outlined below is tentative and subject to change based on weather conditions, material availability, and workforce considerations.

Tentative Project Schedule:

June 6th (2 days): Mobilization to the staging area adjacent to the Independent Grocer.

June 13th (2 days): Nighttime installation of bypass pumping pipe across McNeely Avenue, with lane reductions in place.

June 20th (5 days): Daytime sewer replacement begins north of Canadian Tire.

June 27th (7 days): Nighttime sewer replacement begins along the Independent Grocer frontage within the drive aisle.
