The warmer weather marks the beginning of our construction season. This year the Town of Carleton Place and our contractor Strathmar Trenching Ltd. will be working on the following streets:

  • Dufferin Street (Townline Road to McKenzie Street)
  • St. Paul Street (Townline Road to William Street)
  • Down Street (Coleman Street to Catherine Street)
  • Grant Street (Coleman Street to Nelson Street West)
  • Duncan Street (Nelson Street West to Julian Street)
  • Ann Street (Brown Street to Cul-de-sac)
  • Brown Street (Nelson Street West to Julian Street)
  • Bennett Street (Findlay Avenue to Cul-de-sac)
  • Charles Street (Emily Street to Lake Avenue West)

Residents impacted by the construction will have received letters from the Public Works Department earlier this year. If anyone would like more information about the nature of the work planned for each street, please visit the Town’s website at https://carletonplace.ca/town/municipal-services-info/infrastructure-projects

The Public Works Department would like to remind residents that weather, staffing, and supply of materials can impact the construction schedule. Activities anticipated for the upcoming week include the following:

Bennett Street

Crews will be removing the existing asphalt and will be replacing the granular materials.

Duncan Street

Crews will be removing the existing asphalt and will be replacing the granular materials.

Ann and Brown Street

Crews will be removing the existing asphalt and will be replacing the granular materials. Additionally, crews will be installing a new catch basin on Ann Street to assist with drainage.

For everyone’s safety, the Town of Carleton Place and Strathmar Trenching Ltd. would like to request that residents find alternative routes to avoid these active constructions zones. If you cannot avoid these areas, please reduce your speed and follow the directions provided by flag crews and/or any posted signage. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding any of our projects, please do not hesitate to call Public Works at (613) 257-2253.
