WHEREAS Lunar New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is one of the most significant cultural celebrations observed by billions of people around the world; and
WHEREAS the Year of the Horse symbolizes energy, freedom, and optimism, and is a time for families to gather, honor their ancestors, and welcome prosperity for the year ahead; and
WHEREAS the Town of Carleton Place celebrates the diversity of our community and recognizes the cultural traditions that enrich our town; and
WHEREAS Lunar New Year provides an opportunity for all residents to learn about and appreciate the customs, values, and contributions of our Asian community members;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place, do hereby proclaim February 17th, 2026 as the commencement of Lunar New Year, The Year of the Horse, in the Town of Carleton Place.
I encourage all residents to join in celebrating Lunar New Year, learn about the traditions and cultural significance of this important holiday, and extend warm wishes to those observing this festive occasion.
