WHEREAS Pink Shirt Day is an annual anti-bullying campaign that began in Nova Scotia in 2007 when students stood up against bullying by wearing pink shirts in solidarity; and
WHEREAS bullying has serious and lasting impacts on the mental health, well-being, and safety of children and youth in our communities; and
WHEREAS the Town of Carleton Place is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all residents, particularly our young people; and
WHEREAS Pink Shirt Day reminds us that everyone has a role to play in preventing bullying, supporting those who are affected, and fostering kindness and empathy in our schools and community; and
WHEREAS this year’s unofficial theme, “Sprinkle Kindness,” encourages us to share acts of compassion and understanding throughout our community;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Toby Randell, do hereby proclaim Pink Shirt Day, February 25th, 2026 in the Town of Carleton Place.
I encourage all residents to wear pink on February 25th, stand up against bullying in all its forms, and commit to creating a culture of kindness, acceptance, and respect in our community.
