Small Business Week – October 19-25, 2025

WHEREAS small businesses are the backbone of Carleton Place’s economy, fostering innovation, creating employment opportunities, and contributing to the unique character of our community; and​

WHEREAS BDC Small Business Week is an annual event organized by the Business Development Bank of Canada to celebrate Canadian entrepreneurship, with over 10,000 entrepreneurs gathering each year to learn, network, and recognize the contributions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs);

WHEREAS the theme for this year’s Small Business Week, “The power of small: Defying the odds,” highlights the resilience, creativity, and determination of small businesses in overcoming challenges and driving economic growth; and​

WHEREAS the Town of Carleton Place acknowledges the vital role that local small businesses play in providing essential goods and services, enriching our community culture, and enhancing the quality of life for all residents; and​

WHEREAS during this week, it is important to recognize the efforts of small business owners and entrepreneurs who continue to adapt, innovate, and contribute significantly to the economic well-being of our town;​

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place, do hereby proclaim October 19-25, 2025, as Small Business Week in Carleton Place.

I encourage all residents to support our local small businesses, participate in Small Business Week events, and acknowledge the indispensable role these enterprises play in fostering a vibrant and prosperous community.
